Public duties of the Board of the Hungarian Corvin Chain

by Article 6 of Act CXLI of 2016:

Article 6 (1). The Board is engaged in promoting sciences and art as well as the Hungarian national education and culture, and protects the prestige of the Hungarian Corvin Chain Award.

(2) Acting under the authority defined in paragraph (1), the Board

a) shall express its opinion on whether those who have been recommended to receive the Hungarian Corvin Chain Award are, while taking into account the individual’s public activities, worthy of the Award based on their work in the field of Hungarian science, literature or art and/or their services towards the furthering of Hungarian national education and culture;

b) upon special request, the Board shall express its opinion with regard to the state of Hungarian scientific and artistic life, education, culture and any other fields it may regard as important, and on draft government decisions concerning them;

c) shall closely monitor the status of Hungarian scientific and artistic life, education, culture and any other areas it views as important and may make recommendations or publish official statements in the public interest with regard to these;

d) may operate scholarship programmes with the purpose of promoting persons with outstanding talent in their professional field.
